The 4th China-Malaysia Marine Cooperation Workshop
To further enhance the cooperation between China and Malaysia on marine science and technology, the 4th China-Malaysia Marine Cooperation Workshop was successfully convened on 14 December 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Jointly hosted by the State Oceanic Administration of China and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia (MOSTI), and organized by University of Malaya (UM) and FIO together, the Workshop drew more than 60 delegates from marine authorities and research institutes of China and Malaysia and invited Dr. QIAO Fangli from FIO and Dr. Azizan Abu Samah from UM as two chairs.
Experts from both countries had extensive discussion on marine field investigation, theoretical research, practical application, and integrated management, covering fields of marine environmental forecasting, extreme climate, marine sediment, coastal evolution, bio-diversity, eco-system health, marine bio-technology, blue economy, and capacity building. The joint projects funded by two sides were well reviewed and suggestions for new projects were evaluated comprehensively.
