The Engineering Geological Prospecting Project of Project Feasibility Study Stage of the Second Submarine Tunnel of Qingdao Jointly Conducted by Our Institute Passes the Expert Review
On April 15, 2018, the geological prospecting of the feasibility study stage of the Second submarine tunnel of Qingdao jointly conducted by Qingdao Marine Engineering Prospecting and Design Institute of the First Institute of Oceanography, SOA, China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Municipal Prospecting and Mapping Research Institute passed the review in Qingdao.
The Second submarine tunnel is designed to be a round-the-clock cross-sea channel connecting the east and west coasts of Qingdao. The main traffic through this channel will be passenger vehicles, and it also allows cargos to get through. This channel is twice the length of Jiaozhou Bay Tunnel which is 7.8 kilometers and will reach 15.8 kilometers, among which 11.1 kilometers will be under the sea.
Our institute has conducted the marine engineering prospecting and scientific use of sea review work for bridges and tunnels of Jiaozhou Bay including Jiaozhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge, Jiaozhou Bay Submarine Tunnel, Subway Line 1 and Subway Line 8, and made important contribution to the development of marine channels connecting the east and west regions of Qingdao.
