American Geophysical Union (AGU) Delegation visits FIO
The delegation of American Geophysical Union (AGU) visited FIO on October, 12. The members includes Margaret Leinen, former Chairman of AGU, Christine McEntee, CEO of AGU, Janice Lachance, Executive Vice President of Strategic Organization Department of AGU, and Zhang Minghua, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres. Li Tiegang, director of FIO, Qiao Fangli, secretary of the CPC Committee of FIO, and representatives of relevant research and management departments met with the AGU delegation. During the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on the main situation of their respective institutions, and the research personnel of FIO focused on the research situation and main achievements in physical oceanography, marine geology, and marine ecological environment. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the next step of cooperation.
After the meeting, FIO also organized exchanges between young scientists and the AGU delegation. Professor Zhang Minghua delivered a keynote speech entitled "How to submit and publish your research". He shared his experience and skills in writing and submitting English papers with young researchers. After the report, the AGU delegation held a question-and-answer session with young researchers, which was warmly received and enjoyed in a harmonious atmosphere. Afterwards, the AGU delegation visited the High Performance Computer Center and China Ocean Sample Repository (COSR) of FIO, and spoke highly of the scientific research strength of FIO.
