"Xiang Yang Hong 01" vessel was berthed at the port of Colombo in Sri Lanka on April 9, after it completed the survey of the second section of 2019 Northeast Indian Ocean Cruise. During that time, Li Xin (the leader of the first section) and Yang Long (the chief scientist) handed over the task to Wang Lisong (the leader of the second section) and Zheng Yanpeng (the chief scientist), with their respective professional survey team. They inspected and maintained the survey facilities before the team members of the first section returned to China early on the morning of April 13.

In the "Xiang Yang Hong 01" research vessel’s 2019 Northeast Indian Ocean Cruise, the efficiency of the vessel has been greatly improved thanks to the model of "shifts of port personnel and material supply". The survey facilities had undergone special pre-cruise inspection before the departure, and "temporary branch of Party Committee" is established for each section to carry out special trainings on work safety and foreign affairs for investigators.

During the second section, the vessel plans to conduct a marine survey of 56 days and is expected to return to China on June 10 in the port of Xiamen. It will carry on with other survey cruises after a short break.
