The Training Course on Marine Scientific Research in the South China Sea Successfully Concluded

The Training Course on Marine Scientific Research in the South China Sea was successfully held online from December 13 to 17, 2021. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and undertaken by the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources (FIO, MNR). More than 90 trainees from universities, research institutes and government departments of China and ASEAN countries attended the training.

Eleven experts from marine science and policy research fields at home and abroad gave lectures for this training, covering various topics such as ocean observation technology and application, marine environment and climate change in the South China Sea, marine numerical model and data assimilation, marine biogenetics and toxic algae research, marine geological survey and data analysis, and marine microplastic sampling and analysis technology. Representatives of the trainees shared their respective research during the training.

This training course is an international training focusing on the cooperation of marine scientific research in the South China Sea held in China under the framework of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, which has achieved good results and accumulated useful experience for further promoting marine scientific research cooperation in the South China Sea.
