Deputy Special Envoy of the French President for the UNOC Visits FIO
Recently, a delegation led by Ashok Adiceam, Deputy Special Envoy of the French President for the United Nations Ocean Conference, visited the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Dr. QIAO Fangli, Deputy Director General of FIO, together with representatives of relevant departments, had a meeting with the delegation.
Deputy Director General QIAO Fangli, on behalf of FIO, gave a warm welcome to the visit of Mr. Ashok Adiceam and a brief introduction of FIO. He also reviewed the history of cooperation and current status of scientific research between FIO and France. Representatives of relevant departments introduced the scientific research, international cooperation and the work progress of the Decade Collaborative Centre on Ocean-Climate Nexus and Coordination amongst Decade Implementing Partners in P.R. China (DCC-OCC) respectively.
Deputy Special Envoy Ashok Adiceam highly appreciated the achievements FIO made in international cooperation in marine science and technology. He gave a detailed introduction of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) to be held in Nice, France and recommended FIO to continuously conduct in-depth cooperation with French research institutions to jointly produce results of the UNOC and share the advanced experience of FIO in marine sci-tech innovation and governance with the world.
The visit promoted scientific research cooperation between FIO and French research institutions. The two sides promised to make more scientific and technological contributions to the advancement of global marine science and technology and the sustainable development by deepening cooperation in scientific research in the future.
