Senior Officials From Multiple Countries Visit FIO

On October 25, senior officials from multiple countries visited the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), the Ministry of the Natural Resources of China after the International Forum on Blue Disaster Prevention and Mitigation organized by FIO, DCC-OCC and Elsevier. The foreign guests consisted of the Minister for Fisheries and Blue Economy of Madagascar, Regional Director General of the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Madagascar, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, Environment and Energy of Maldives, Director General of the Meteorological Department of Kenya, Director General of the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency of Sri Lanka, Rector of the Jenderal Soedirman University, etc.

Prof. QIAO Fangli, Deputy Director General of FIO, delivered a speech and expressed a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. Dr. LI Li, Director of the International Cooperation Department of FIO, gave a brief introduction of FIO and its international cooperation. After the meeting, experts of FIO had in-depth discussions with the guests on scientific and research cooperation in groups. During the visit, the foreign guests visited the High Performance Computing Center and the China Ocean Sample Repository.

FIO has proactively promoted blue disaster prevention and mitigation with the Indian Ocean Rim Countries. The visit has laid a solid foundation for the future marine science and technology cooperation with these countries.
