Bandung Institute of Technology Visits FIO and Signs MoU
On June 10, a delegation led by Rector Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia, paid a visit to the First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resource, China and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation. Prof. WEI Zexun, Director General, XU Xingyong, Deputy Director General, and representatives from relevant departments of FIO attended the signing ceremony.

Director General WEI Zexun extended a warm welcome to Rector Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara and the accompanying delegates. He noted that FIO has long maintained close ties and sound cooperation with Indonesian counterparts in marine science. The signing of this MoU marks a new stage featuring comprehensive expansion and deepening of partnership between FIO and ITB. Moving forward, leveraging the Indonesia-China Center for Ocean and Climate (ICCOC) as a vital platform, both sides will further deepen practical cooperation in marine scientific surveys, capacity building and postgraduate education, jointly contributing to advancing sustainable marine development of the two countries.

Rector Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara stated that ITB attaches great importance to its strategic cooperation with FIO. He expressed hopes that this visit will boost mutual trust, and looked forward to deeper exchanges and collaboration under the ICCOC framework to deliver more substantive outcomes in the future.

During the talks, representatives of both sides reviewed and thoroughly discussed ongoing and prospective areas for expanded cooperation, reaching broad consensus on further deepening bilateral collaboration. Following the meeting, Director General WEI Zexun and Rector Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara signed the MoU on behalf of FIO and ITB respectively.
The signing lays a solid foundation for practical marine science and technology cooperation and the establishment of a long-term mechanism for regular exchanges between the two sides. Looking ahead, both parties will rely on ICCOC to continuously expand and deepen cooperation, jointly setting a new benchmark for marine scientific and technological collaboration, and contributing wisdom and strength to advance the building of a maritime community with a shared future.
